Maintaining Blinds – How To Care For Your Blinds?

Your blinds can make a big difference to the look and feel of your home, so keeping them in great condition is important. It’s easy for dirt and dust to accumulate over time on your blinds, but with a few tips, cleaning them has never been easier.

Vertical blinds

Vertical blinds often need no more than a vacuum cleaner to get them back up to standard. With the blinds closed and slats facing the same way, running your hoover attachment from the top to the bottom of each slat, repeating the process on the other side. This should be enough to clear away any dust that has built up amongst the blinds.

Roller blinds

Likewise, most roller blinds will require just a vacuum cleaner to keep them looking great. Use the soft brush attachment for your hoover to go over the blind – if there are still more stubborn marks, wipe these down with a damp cloth.

If there are any serious stains that need your attention, you can remove your roller blind from its frame and soak it in warm soapy water. Gently brushing the stain with a soft bristled brush should lift any dirt or stains off the material.

Wooden shutters

Wooden shutters are a great option for rooms that a lot of people occupy, as they are durable and easy to keep clean. Simply wipe the shutters over with a dust cloth to remove dirt and grime, or use a cloth soaked in warm water for any more stubborn marks.

Roman blinds

Like other fabric blinds, roman blinds can be cleaned using the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. This should lift the dust and any dirt that has accumulated on the blind and keep it looking fresh in your home. More stubborn marks can also be cleaned using a cloth soaked in warm water.

Venetian blinds

Cleaning venetian blinds can be a time consuming process, with so many slats accumulating dust in the home.
Luckily, clearing the slats of dust is easily done with a slightly damp cloth, or simple dusting wipes. Ensure you clean your venetian blinds gently to avoid bending or damaging any of the slats.
